Sure Glad I Painted

Yup! I painted my room and I couldn't be happier about the end result! Shortly after writing this post about deciding what color to paint my room, I headed back to Lowe's to buy one gallon of Valspar's Winter Delta in an eggshell finish. I figured one gallon would do the job because there are so many windows, doors, and moldings in the room and I would only need one coat. Thankfully, I was right! I also got a bunch of painting supplies from Walmart (because they were cheaper) like rollers, detail brushes, trays, and plastic drop cloth sheets.

By the time I could get back to my room, I was so ready to break open that gallon of paint and splash it all over the walls! However, I knew I wanted to do the job correctly so instead I taped off all the molding and trim. I filled the larger areas between the moldings with paint using the roller. I then went in with the detail brush and painted all the smaller areas. After I finished the first wall I stood back and fell in love. I didn't know is was possible to fall head over heels in love with a paint color. Should my boyfriend be jealous? I think so. WOW!

Now, back to business. The painting process took a few more hours than I expected, but I was trying to be extra careful due to all the trim and molding in the room. I'm sure you are sick and tired hearing about trim and molding, but it was a pretty big deal trying to paint around all that. By the way, did I mention that this was my very first time to ever paint a room? I had so much fun. If any of you need help painting your room, give me a call. I'm a pro now! It's actually not that hard. I used the same process (painting in large areas with the roller and the small areas with the brush) for all of the walls. So, if you're thinking about starting a painting job, my advice to you is just go for it!

Here are a couple of before painting pictures...

I absolutely loooooove the finished painted room! There is still much to be done in the room, but the warmer painted walls make a huge difference. I truly believe that painting is an extremely affordable way to completely transform a room. My room is proof of that. I plan to post better pictures soon. It was dark outside by the time I finished painting and moving my furniture back in so the room appears way darker in the photo than it actually is. I was just so excited about the paint that I just couldn't wait to post the pictures that I had.

I am just so happy about how the walls turned out. The room is so unbelievably cozy, which is exactly what I wanted! Are any of you considering beginning your very first painting job?
