Dorm Room Cheat Sheet

The fall 2011 semester is right around the corner, which means it's time to start makin' a list and checkin' it twice! No, I'm not talking about a naughty or nice list. I'm talking about your list of dorm room essentials! Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or even a senior, it's never a bad idea to make a list of things you are taking with you and things you need to buy before the school year begins. However, incoming freshmen will always have the biggest and longest list! It's best to go ahead and buy all the basics you need. By basics, I mean things like a mattress pad, storage bins and organizers, etc. Once you have those essential elements of your room, you can begin shopping for pretty bedding and more personalized accessories. If you do things in this order, you will be sure not to forget about any of the basics and your decor with be more cohesive.

I have created this dorm room check list (I like to call it a cheat sheet) to help during the process of getting things together for the 2011/2012 school year. The list covers everything from bedding to organizational tools.
Did you know you can print this list out and take it shopping with you? Just click the image (above) and a new window will pop up containing the list. Then simply click file and print. Unfortunately the image printed won't be the full size of the paper. You can also zoom in on the image a tad bit, click file, and then print.

Print it, Fold it up and stick in pocket or purse! You will be the most organized student in the dorms when you move in. Have fun!

These are the things that Dorm owners should consider putting on every room of the Dormitory. It's actually nice.

I remember making a list like this when I was in college. You're right that freshmen will have a longer list since they start with nothing. They have to buy their first mattress, kitchen ware and decors. It was quite exciting for me back then.

One of the focal points in my room in college was the large windows. To make a statement I draped my window with inexpensive soft silk fabric. Also added a decorative rod and finials.

Before buying the first curtain you see for your dorm window, consider design options like the location of the window and the color. Since color affects mood, avoid using strong and dark color to a light-colored wall. You should also avoid using large patterns on small windows.

Your cheat sheet pretty much covered everything. It is easy to forget something when you are moving to a new dorm or apartment. This will help a lot.
